Brief personal update

September 1. I started at NNIT A/S as a part of the graduate programme, and so far I love it. The next 18 month I will try out different challenges in the different divisions of NNIT, starting as a Delivery Manager in the Operations department. And what a start, terrific colleagues, great tasks which brings me around in close to all areas of the division, and the most important… a nice lunch buffet. So far, I can easily recommend a graduate programme for anyone who has the opportunity, and likes continuously getting challenges on new areas.

Starting at NNIT meant that I had to leave my base for the last 4 year, Dwarf A/S. It was not exactly an easy choice, while Dwarf is a real nice place to work, and the humor and culture is an exact match to me. But so far, I have really nothing to regret. I guess the Danish job market is just full of great challenges at the moment.

Before I started I purchased a book on ITIL (among others in an Amazon shopping frenzy), which I can recommend to anyone who wants to get introduced to the field. ITIL is a collection of best practices observed in the IT service industry, which is used more and more widely. I also just re-subscribed to the CACM magazine, which is one of the highest esteemed publications on Information systems, and probably the most cited magazines in the computing field. Anyway, I added the acmqueue magazine to the subscription, because it has great updates on coding practices. So even though I might not code as much anymore, I still can get frequent updates.
