The next Dubai wonder

Not even do the people of Dubai understand how to build cool structures, and alter the terrain so it becomes attractive to the richest people of the world. They also understand how to make cool presentation videos of their crazy, but cool ideas.

Remember “The Palm I II and III” and “The World”? Those artificial islands people could buy if they were disturbingly loaded. The Palm islands is being build to look like Palm trees, and “The world” is a set of artificial Islands which will look like the world map when finished. I am currently saving up for island E14, and I think I could get it at a low price at the moment.

Another great/crazy/super-cool plan, which recently got my attention, is building the worlds highest building. Yes, now is the time to challenge that ever changing record. But after this one it will be hard to beat. At the moment the tallest building is Taipei 101 (505 m) in Taipei, and then Petronas Towers (452 m), Kuala Lumpur. This new building in Dubai will be 705 m, and be called Burj Dubai, which simply means Tower of Dubai. Offcourse it also has its own presentation video, which will make you count your money. I would suggest next to build a giant sun clock area around it, and then let people buy an hour. Or maybe the next thing could be flying islands, shaped like the solar system.

To beat this record, somebody might as well build the space elevator proposed by Artur C. Clarke in “The Fountains of Paradise”. There is some way up to 36.000km though. But where there is will…

I think this should be a list of Danish products, which should be boycottet by the Arabian countries due to the unfortunate Mohammad drawings. But can anyone tell me why Kinder is on the list? isn’t that German. And can you even say “no for Denmark” which is the name of the domain?

What will the schools kids do without sun top?.. please notice the advertisement “Rich in vitamin C”, even though it is supposed to be a list of banned products. Awful refreshing, and yet forbidden…

Shopping and flan

Today I was out shopping with my girlfriend in the so called China-town here in Copenhagen. It has its name because of the many small Chinese convenient stores there, but it doesn’t look like the traditional “china towns” we see in the (other) big cities around the world. The picture shows the catch of a normal grocery shopping trip. Unfortunately they didn’t have my favorite food, 3 boxed bolognese pizzas for 20kr anywhere. Instead i found something else; The Chinese equivalent of one of the wonders of the world, FLAN. It is the bag in the lower left corner that contains the divine treat. The English translation says something about “almond soybean cheese” and when I saw that I just had to buy it. That description, combined with the picture on the package made me drewl like a spastic puppy… well not exactly, but I just had to buy this interesting version of the dessert of the wealthy: flan.

By the way, the new temporary top banner is because of the Chinese New Year this Saturday. We will now enter the year of the dog. I myself am a sheep, which of course is a symbol of strength, wisdom and courage. What are you?
